Type 01 is characterized by dramatic proportions and clean surfacing. Conceived in the design studio with no constraints on a blank sheet of paper and honed to perfection in the wind tunnel. Designers and engineers united to achieve the original design vision. The most aerodynamic Jaguar ever without compromising the purity of the design.

Achieving Jaguar’s vision for a modern electric GT with four doors, more than 1,000HP and signature Jaguar driving character demanded a new body architecture. The Type 01 vehicle’s dramatic silhouette and thrilling driving experience sits at the center of Jaguar's unique foundations. Designed, developed and built in the heart of the UK.

The creative engineering and singular focus behind this electric‑only architecture is the enabler for both Type 01’s distinctive proportions and captivating driving dynamics. The result is the most technically advanced Jaguar to date, with more than 360 patent applications. One of the most powerful Jaguar road car ever created shrinks around the driver with 50:50 weight distribution. Two dynamic characters in one epic drive. Deep reserves of power and refined comfort.

Tri‑motor technology with Intelligent Torque Vectoring puts the power precisely where it’s needed, with up to 1,015HP and 1,007 lb.‑ft of torque, achieving 0‑60mph (0‑100km/h) from 3.1 seconds(3). More than just pure acceleration, Type 01 delivers a sense of always having power in reserve. Its rate of rolling acceleration demonstrates this, going from 62mph to 112mph (100km/h to 180km/h) in 4.0 seconds(4). A 118kWh battery and 850‑volt architecture means clients can complete almost all journeys without interruption, with an anticipated range of up to 400 miles(5) and the ability to add up to 200 miles of range in as little as 13 minutes using 350kW rapid DC charging(6).

Every trip in Type 01 is an occasion. From the visual statement of its exterior to its dramatic interior. The exterior color palette shows Type 01’s pure surfacing in the very best light. Clients can choose from gloss colors or satin finishes that accentuate the monolithic quality of Type 01. The exterior Fender Ingot showcases the famous leaper, crafted with precision.

Inside, a central spine runs the length of the cabin to create individual spaces for each occupant. It is mirrored on each side by brass‑inspired elements that run from front to back, defining the longitudinal nature of the interior.

The Interactive Driver Display – a 24‑inch single glass OLED screen – places absolute control directly ahead of the driver, providing exceptional clarity and operating the intuitive new Jaguar Infotainment. An additional smartphone‑style seven‑inch display between the driver and front passenger places the most common key controls within instinctive easy reach. Immersive audio creates a wall of sound using a full‑width, full‑range Panoramic Soundbar with Sensory Audio seats.(7)

Exuberant proportions, scale and presence 

Jaguar Type 01 is the first production car to follow the new exuberant modernist creative philosophy. A luxury four‑door GT that never arrives unnoticed.

Dramatic proportions set Type 01 apart. Modern and sophisticated with clean surfacing, its presence is unmistakable from every angle. Distinctive proportions made possible by the new bespoke body architecture and design‑enabling innovations. 

The dynamic stance defines Type 01’s sleek, uninterrupted silhouette, which measures 208in (5,235mm) long by 55in (1,403mm) tall. The low profile adds drama while a short front overhang, long hood and extended rear overhang exude a powerful presence. The large flat hood which adds to the monolithic presence of Type 01 is an engineering marvel, formed from a single body pressing bonded to an innovative subframe to ensure no compromise on refinement or design.

Bold 23‑inch wheels as standard (with 21‑inch options available) are more than half of Type 01’s height and balance the dramatic glasshouse‑to‑body proportions, making the GT look like it’s in motion even when standing still. The new Jaguar monogram appears at the center of the wheels, with patent‑pending lightweight wheel inserts that are optimized for airflow. The continuous aluminum finisher that runs around the base of Type 01 grounds the car, enhancing the precision detailing. 

The large luxury gap – the distance from the center of the front axle to the front door – is a signature of Jaguars past and is unusual among EVs. For Type 01, it measures 898mm and makes up 17 percent of the car’s total length – almost the same as for the E‑type. The Fender Ingot, the signature side finisher, accentuates the luxury gap and grounded stance.  It is the singular place on the exterior of Type 01 for the leaper – Jaguar’s hallmark of provenance. It is laser‑etched on an anodized brass‑effect finisher for the exclusive 'Curated by Jaguar' Design Vision interpretation.

Type 01 is the most aerodynamic Jaguar ever made, with a drag coefficient of 0.23Cd. Its crafted exterior surfaces are clean and modern, providing presence and drama. Designers and engineers worked together for more than 7,000 tests in the wind tunnel to optimize aerodynamic efficiency, with hidden technology and precision refinements. All while preserving the original design vision.

Type 01 pushes the boundaries of automotive manufacturing to deliver this vision. The groundbreaking aluminum bodyside features a rear quarter panel that undergoes a complex six‑stage pressing process to achieve its crisp and sophisticated shape, designed to evoke the flick of a pen.

Named the Impossible Panel, it also houses a unique design concept with frameless doors closing directly against the body. The compressed‑radius hemming technique allows glass seals to be hidden, with no need for additional cosmetic trims. Complexity made simple. An approach mirrored by the clean and defined waistline, where door glass meets metal.

A new face of Jaguar

As the first of a new era, Type 01 showcases the confident new face of Jaguar. A reductive and sophisticated look defined by the strikethrough graphic, with the new device mark taking center stage. The distinctive new four‑light signature gives Type 01 a confident, grounded identity. The main, powerful HD LED projection headlights, which feature automatic levelling, precise beam control and welcome projection, are the slimmest ever Jaguar headlights. Measuring just 3.3in (84mm) high, they each have 17,000 pixels.  

Type 01 preserves the purity of its design through embedded technology. At the front, Active Vanes provide a clean A‑surface when closed but open when the propulsion system and brakes need cooling, while also optimizing aerodynamics. On either side, flush door handles respect the clean surfaces, capable of deploying through .015in (4mm) of sheet ice. At the back, a multi‑stage deployable spoiler is visible only when the situation demands it. 

The holistic design of Type 01 is most apparent where the Hood Strikethrough at the base of the windshield breaks the boundaries between exterior and interior, visually merging the hood and dashboard. Understated confidence lies in the details, with a discreet model designation graphic visible here.

The rear makes a bold statement. A solid, glassless tailgate and powerful shoulders create a sense of sculpted solidity, giving Type 01 a monolithic quality. Hidden‑until‑lit, full‑width rear lights are embedded in horizontal strikethroughs, a key visual graphic for the Jaguar brand and the result of 4,000 hours of engineering development. The central brake light is purposefully located to achieve continuity with the powerful shoulder that wraps around Type 01, as well as integrating the new device mark above the third brake light.

Tailored color palette

Tailored to delight at every touch, the exterior color palette shows Type 01 in the very best light, highlighting its unique geometry. Tonal and tactile. 

The Type 01 color palette lets clients express themselves: Visionary Silver, Dramatic White, Iconic Black, Compelling Blue and Refined Grey. All available in gloss finishes. Satin finishes, which accentuate the monolithic quality of Type 01 and help the eyes read every surface, are available in Modernist Blue and Mesmerizing Copper. 

The Design Vision edition is the truest expression of Jaguar design. The purest form of Type 01, as envisaged by the people who designed it. Finished in Visionary Silver Satin, it evokes the look of anodized metal and has been developed by Jaguar to accentuate every detail of the sophisticated surfacing. Unique 23‑inch Diamond Turned wheels with Metallic Black inserts and anodized metal Fender Ingot finishers, inspired by brass and featuring laser‑etched leapers, embellish the dramatic design. The finishers are the result of 500 hours of development work.

The Chromatic Moments collection

Clients seeking true individuality can opt for the Chromatic Moments collection, which celebrates artistry and personal expression with unique badging on the dash and strikethrough. Limited to 60 examples globally. Two exclusively developed paints: French Ultramarine and London Red, both representing the foundational chapters in Jaguar’s reimagining. 

French Ultramarine is synonymous with art and cultural prestige. A distinctive pigment developed for automotive design that pushes the boundaries of color technology with a satin‑like, anodized style look. Inspired by a hue revered since the Renaissance and immortalized by artists such as Monet and Van Gogh, French Ultramarine embodies Jaguar’s fearless reimagining and rebellious edge.​

​London Red is a tribute to Jaguar’s British heritage, inspired by the capital city’s architectural treasures and cultural vivacity. From Victorian redbrick façades to crimson gallery walls, this shade of red, developed exclusively by Jaguar’s materiality and paint teams, celebrates artistry and innovation. Rich, theatrical and deeply evocative, London Red connects Jaguar’s storied past with its bold vision for the future, marking 90 years of creativity with a color that commands attention.​

Dramatic, sophisticated and crafted interior

Type 01 gives every journey a sense of occasion. Its low GT seating position signals what’s to come on the road, shrinking around the driver to create a cosseting and confidence‑inspiring experience.

A dramatic central spine runs the full length of the cabin, creating four individual spaces for each occupant, while opening to reveal exuberant brass‑colored stowage and cupholders. Type 01 pays attention to the finest details, the brass‑inspired finish on the central spine is repeated along the tops of the doors. Running the entire length of the cabin, these signature art pieces bear the Jaguar leaper.

Driver and passenger seats are 12‑way electrically adjustable, heated and cooled, with hot stone massage effect. Split folding (50:50) rear seats are heated and cooled. Driver and passengers enjoy complete control over cabin light, day and night, beneath a panoramic glass roof with adjustable virtual blind, fitted as standard. 

Ahead of the driver sits a distinct duotone steering wheel with brass‑inspired finisher and 24‑inch OLED screen that extends towards the center of the car, combining instrumentation and intuitive control of the clean and sophisticated new Jaguar infotainment. An additional secondary smartphone‑style seven‑inch display sits between the driver and front passenger, placing the most common key controls, such as climate and audio operations, within instinctive easy reach. A matching seven‑inch portrait display is integrated within the central spine and sits in the rear center console for those in the back to control comfort settings.

Strikethrough details on the dashboard seamlessly merge the interior with the exterior, creating one coherently crafted form. Drama is in every detail with hidden‑until‑needed technologies preserving the clean lines, just as they do for the exterior. Concealed cupholders and deployable air vents, pull‑out storage compartments, customizable pinstripe ambient lighting and stowage that opens to reveal moments of exuberant color.

A full‑width, full‑range Panoramic Soundbar across the base of the windshield creates the ultimate soundstage, tuned exclusively for Type 01. Sound envelops the longitudinal interior with invisible speakers throughout the cabin combining with the Panoramic Soundbar and front seat headrest speakers to deliver immersive listening. The captivating system removes the need for row one door speakers, enabling unbroken interior surfaces, adding to the reductive design and further refining the cabin.

The digital ClearSight Rear View Display(9) is embedded centrally within the Panoramic Soundbar at the base of the windshield. The feed from its rear‑facing camera is positioned at the same height as the door mirrors, reducing the focal adjustment demanded from the driver and improving forward visibility. Original thinking. Instinctively executed.

The powered tailgate rises to reveal over 15.9 cu ft (450 liters) of load space, expanding to over 35 cu ft (1,000 liters) with rear seats folded. The split‑level luggage space features front‑to‑rear strikethrough detailing and the hidden underfloor stowage provides additional space. Larger items can be accommodated by tilting the rear seatbacks forwards while the seats themselves are distinctive by design, with fewer seams and stitch lines for a clean, contemporary look. Essential emergency kit can be housed in the service stowage under the hood. There when you need. Hidden when you don’t.

Curated and contemporary colorways

The interior palette draws inspiration from travertine stone, capturing its layered tones and the play of light and shadow. 

Furniture‑inspired seating with minimal seams and ingot detailing create a contemporary look. Innovative Woolblend Kvadrat DuoWeave textile wraps around, encasing either optional leather or Ultrafabrics(TM) NeoGrain – a lightweight material inspired by architectural interiors – and adding to the crafted feel of the cabin. The luxurious textile flooring, which includes recycled materials, wraps into the lower doors and pillar trims to create a welcoming ambience.

The exclusive Design Vision interior pairs Dusk Grey Woolblend Kvadrat DuoWeave textile with Orchid White Ultrafabrics(TM) NeoGrain. The lightest combination available tells a story of lightness, luxury and tranquility that pays homage to the interior of the visionary Type 00. 

Further elevated by unique embroidery on the headrests: a discreet artistic interpretation of the Jaguar monogram that gradually reveals itself across the textile like a painter’s brush.

A drive like no other

Type 01 is two distinct characters in one car, the very essence of Jaguar. Deep reserves of power and refined comfort. 

Effortless power delivery from the most aerodynamically efficient, refined and powerful Jaguar ever. Type 01 shrinks around the driver, ready to carve through corners or cross continents with confidence‑inspiring control and composure. Capable of accelerating from 62‑112mph in 4.0 seconds. It drives like no other EV, distilling the defining characteristics of the finest Jaguars of the past for a new generation. The software, hardware and propulsion of Type 01 are the result of more than 200,000 hours of testing and finessing. 

The car’s visceral responses are built on new foundations. The new JEA body architecture, with a torsional rigidity of 38,100 lb. ft per degree, makes this Jaguar’s stiffest integrated body and battery structure ever. It provides the perfect platform for the double wishbone front and integral link rear suspension, which optimizes handling, comfort and cabin refinement for a captivating drive. 

Type 01 breathes with the road, just like previous Jaguars, but with a level of precision and control only possible today. The chassis features Dynamic Air Suspension with switchable volume air springs and twin‑valve active dampers, adapting ride height at higher speeds to improve efficiency. The system monitors the road 500 times a second and adjusts the dampers 1,000 times a second to continuously deliver ultimate comfort and handling performance, with the suspension able to travel through the body structure to increase wheel travel without compromising the low hood line(20). 

The geometric fundamentals of Type 01 create a low center of gravity – 2.4in (60mm) below the hip point of the driver – allowing for a more compliant suspension to deliver the two dynamic characters of Type 01. The front seats are placed low in the chassis, while the yaw center of the car sits between the front occupants, creating the sense of the car shrinking around the driver for on‑road engagement. Combined with the All‑Wheel Steer system moving in‑phase at high speeds, the yaw center shifts rearwards as speed increases, providing stability and a confidence‑inspiring driving experience. At lower speeds, out‑of‑phase rear steering of up to six degrees enhances low‑speed agility and maneuverability. A 50:50 weight distribution ensures Type 01 maintains its composure when cornering, moving as a single entity in harmony with the road whatever the speed(21).

Type 01’s signature blend of performance and refinement is also enabled by a bespoke tire design, specially developed with Pirelli(TM). Available in all‑season, winter and summer compounds, the exclusive Pirelli P Zero tires are optimized to perfectly fit the car’s driving character, with a large contact patch that generates impressive grip of up to 0.94g of lateral acceleration. 

Carefully weighted controls react instinctively to every input. Sure‑footed rear‑biased all‑wheel drive traction – with tri‑motor technology and Intelligent Torque Vectoring(22) – puts power where it’s needed most. A 260kW front motor and twin 310kW rear motors combine to deliver world‑class torque density of 17.1 lb. ft per lb.

The twin rear motors are controlled by the rear EDU, itself a technological marvel. It combines two permanent magnet motors within a single compact casing to create a unique Jaguar solution that delivers Type 01’s epic performance while maximizing luggage space. Exceptional thermal management, such as immersion‑cooled end windings, ensures peak performance with no compromise on efficiency. 

Type 01’s electric motors utilize permanent magnet technology, supporting efficient operation. Their front and rear gear ratios, 8.76:1 and 7.72:1 respectively, were carefully defined from the earliest stages of the vehicle architecture to give exceptional high‑speed efficiency and refined long‑distance cruising(23). 

The motors are controlled by fast‑switching silicon carbide‑powered inverters, which have been developed from learnings on‑track through the double world championship‑winning Jaguar TCS Racing Formula E team. These convert direct current from the high voltage battery into alternating current to power the electric motors. The system continuously adapts its switching frequency between 2kHz and 20kHz, ensuring operation within its most efficient window at all times(24).

This gives Type 01 instinctive responses for superior traction, precision and control, for example when accelerating on low grip surfaces. Integrated Traction Management reduces the torque reaction time at each wheel from 100 milliseconds to as little as one millisecond utilizing learnings from Jaguar TCS Racing’s high‑fidelity all‑wheel‑drive control software(25). 

Type 01 introduces Jaguar's patent‑pending Inverter Deactivation Technology. By continuously assessing driving conditions, the system can switch to single‑axle operation by deactivating the rear motors when performance is not required, for example when cruising on the highway(26). The transition is imperceptible to the driver yet may contribute up to 18 miles to the total range(27).

All Type 01’s systems are fully integrated using Bosch’s VDC 2.0 software. A predictive, next‑generation stability system developed in collaboration with Jaguar engineers to enable more refined control and interventions, anticipating instability before it occurs(28).

Power in reserve

Type 01 delivers epic and effortless performance, always with the sense of having power in reserve. Up to 1,015HP and 1,007 lb. ft. of torque, made available to the driver across the entire speed range. Inherent to Jaguar DNA, power in reserve is demonstrated at a steady cruising speed of 60mph, where Type 01 uses just two percent of its available power. The rest is ready to deliver continuous acceleration as soon as the driver needs it. The reality of power in reserve is further highlighted by Type 01’s rate of rolling acceleration, going from 62mph to 112mph in 4.0 seconds(29).

Jaguar Type 01 is 208in (5,235mm) long, yet has the wall‑to‑wall turning circle 37.7ft (11.5m) and low‑speed maneuverability of a compact family car. All‑Wheel Steer is the enabler, turning the rear axle up to six degrees, out‑of‑phase or in‑phase with the front wheels, for effortless urban driving and instinctive responses and secure handling at higher speeds(30).

A confidence‑inspiring brake pedal works in harmony with the rest of the car, with a choice of three brake regeneration settings. High, Medium and Low modes vary the level of brake inputs required, while Single Pedal mode expertly blends regenerative braking with torque control for comfortable and controlled cruising(31).

Finely tuned calibration of the control systems finesses a uniquely characterful grand tourer. An engaging car of the digital age with an unmistakably analogue feel. Every journey can be tailored via the Jaguar Drive Control with a choice of four tuned drive modes – Jaguar, Dynamic, Efficient and Ice & Snow – with the ability to personalize the driving experience to suit driver preferences using the fifth Curated mode(32). 

Jaguar mode reflects the core DNA of comfort and composure. For an even more controlled and instinctive drive, Dynamic mode puts up to 87 percent of the power to the rear axle, even more of the time, stiffens the active air springs and sharpens steering and throttle inputs. All Surface Progress Control, a low‑speed cruise control style feature, automatically adjusts to existing drive modes and helps the driver gain and maintain speed in slippery conditions(33). 

Electric freedom

Jaguar Type 01’s 118kWh lithium‑ion battery provides an expected range of up to 400 miles(34). Side terminal prismatic cell technology, with unique Jaguar NMC chemistry, feature integrated longitudinal busbars to eliminate cables. All engineered to maximize energy density. For the client, this means the ability to cruise for up to 320 miles at highway speeds on a single charge – enough to complete many journeys without interruption(35).

Battery testing went far beyond the conventional standards for a luxury grand tourer. For example, Type 01 passed the immersion test where a hot battery pack is immersed 20 times in ice cold water at a depth of approximately 3.3ft (1m), testing how cells react to sudden temperature change. Advanced battery management software continually monitors the health of each cell, with the ability to isolate a single cell in the event of any safety issues in as little as five milliseconds. Batteries are warrantied for eight years or 100,000 miles for complete peace of mind.

Type 01 has been tested around the globe. A car for all seasons. Jaguar’s thermal supervisor, ThermAssist(TM), optimizes energy to suit the conditions. Maximizing range and minimizing charging times, without any input from the driver. Powered by a new Hypervisor controller and operational between extremes of ‑40 and +40 degrees, ThermAssist(TM) continually tracks the heat management system and automatically moves thermal energy where it’s needed most, between battery, EDUs and cabin in the most efficient way possible. 

For example, excess heat generated by the electric motors can be captured to warm the cabin or battery. Up to 3.5kW of heating power can be produced from every 1kW of energy recovered. Alternatively, it can keep the cabin cool in hot weather or harvest energy from ambient air on freezing cold mornings to help warm the battery. 

ThermAssist(TM) also improves battery longevity and charging capability by transferring heat to keep cells at their optimum operating temperature. Active oil control valves allow precision control and efficiency of the heat management system. 

Propulsion pre‑conditioning prepares the battery ahead of charging, so it’s at the optimum temperature to be topped up in the most efficient way. Begin long trips confident of a full charge thanks to Storage Band Conditioning, which ensures charge status when you return to the vehicle, in extreme high or low ambient temperatures.

Charging made simple

Type 01 operates on an 850‑volt architecture making the charging experience effortless. With 350kW DC charging, add up to 200 miles of range in as little as 13 minutes and charge from 10‑80 percent in around 22 minutes(36). Intelligent split‑charging capability allows Type 01 to make the most of whichever charger it’s plugged into with 250kW charging capability possible at 400 volts. An integrated on‑board charger allows AC charging at up to 19.2kW. 

Type 01 makes charging simple every step of the way, wherever the journey starts and ends. Standard dual AC charge ports on either side of Type 01, including DC charging through the passenger‑side port in the U.S., are hidden behind powered charging doors, make plugging in easy wherever it’s parked around the world.

At home, plug in with the Jaguar Home Charger, a tethered wall box with a 24.6ft (7.5m) cable. Visual elegance and practical intelligence, all integrated with the Jaguar App for scheduled or smart charging. Enjoy North American Charging Standard (NACS) compatibility in the US, with access to the Supercharger network.

Engineered around the vision. 

Delivering the unique proportions, uninterrupted silhouette and technological specification of Type 01 required a new approach. More than 360 patents applications were filed to achieve Type 01. Creative engineering solutions to challenges never experienced in the automotive industry. Engineers learned from Jaguar TCS Racing to embed a competition development mindset to develop the innovative JEA body architecture(39). Exclusive, pioneering and bespoke to Jaguar. It is the enabler for the distinctive dimensions that give Type 01 its unmistakable presence and captivating drive.

Solid foundations ensure the chassis can do its job. Type 01 has the strongest underpinnings of any Jaguar ever made, with 73 percent aluminum and torsional rigidity of approximately 38,100 lb‑ft per degree. Ingenious thinking is evident in the way JEA integrates its 118kWh battery alongside a vertically stacked electric motor and gearbox. The battery pack connects with the chassis directly to increase rigidity, delivering enhancements to handling, ride comfort and cabin refinement. 

Distinctive frameless doors with flush glazing close neatly against an innovative new cant rail design. A compressed‑radius hemming technique results in a crisp visual transition from glass to body, without trims or visible seals. Another patent‑ pending technology. A seamless waistline creates the same clean appearance where glass meets door. Both evidence of a commitment to achieving the crafted surfaces of the original vision. 

Structural innovation

Underfloor batteries traditionally raise the roofline but not for Type 01. The unique body architecture allows the battery pack to extend ahead of the passenger compartment to maximize range with zero compromise on vehicle height. Specially designed Tri‑Apex Node structural elements help to distribute energy in the event of a frontal impact, capable of absorbing and stopping 28.7 tons in an impact. In side impacts, the pack itself absorbs 70 percent of all crash energy(40). The extra 32 cells accommodated by this innovation may contribute up to 70 miles of range to the total range and 148HP(41). 

A patent pending structural high‑voltage junction box, which houses the advanced Battery Energy Management system, is positioned between the front wheels 13.8in (350mm) ahead of the bulkhead and doubles as a strut brace for the front suspension. Packaging efficiency meets structural integrity. Key components are carefully positioned to optimize cabin space. The underfloor battery is split to create extra vertical legroom and improve comfort for rear passengers, while maintaining the dramatic low roofline. Connectors for the 200 battery cells are positioned on the sides of the individual cells, rather than on top, to save precious millimeters of battery height. As a result, 80 percent of the pack height is dedicated to energy storage, reflecting an advanced approach to battery packaging.

The Impossible Panel

Type 01 pushes new boundaries for the industry in the pressing of the aluminum body panels, to deliver the vision of Jaguar designers. The bodyside features a rear quarter panel that underwent a painstaking development using traditional skills and expertise to achieve its crisp and sophisticated surfacing.

Engineers invested more than 1,500 hours in perfecting the pressing of the panel, to deliver five different planes as three feature lines converge in a single point. Established industry wisdom dictates no more than three planes with sweeping curves and no acute angles on a single body panel, but Type 01 shatters these constraints. 

Jaguar deployed age‑old techniques and body pressing expertise to create The Impossible Panel. Pressed in Halewood, it requires a six‑stage process and 2,500 tons of pressure from a machine four stories high. In this way, Type 01 sets a new standard for the cold forming of aluminum in car production, with no impact on manufacturing time.

Optimizing efficiency

Battery capacity and energy efficiency are key contributors to driving range. Jaguar has maximized both for Type 01(42). 

Close collaboration between design and engineering across thousands of wind tunnel simulations resulted in complete airflow optimization. In one example, honing millimeters from the front corner of the car and redirecting air along the side and rear of Type 01 contributes up to 12 miles of the total range(43).

The dramatic proportions of Type 01, including the sculpted underfloor, unconventional contours of The Impossible Panel and vertical rear, help manage airflow down the sides and off the rear. This creates a high‑pressure zone which generates 8.8lb (4kg) of positive aerodynamic thrust to propel the car forwards, rather than the more conventional low pressure, which creates drag and pulls the car backwards(44).

An intelligent, patent‑pending deployable rear spoiler optimizes airflow further. Type 01 lowers by 0.6in (15mm) when cruising and the spoiler is active. The three‑stage design is hidden at low speeds but deploys by seven degrees above 50mph to reduce drag on the highway and may contribute to total range(45). At speeds higher than 96mph(46), the spoiler transitions to 21‑degree aero‑balance mode and generates up to 165lbs (75kg) of downforce for improved stability, while maintaining the same aerodynamic efficiency as when it’s hidden.  

Hidden‑until‑needed Active Vanes at the front of Type 01 preserve the dramatic exterior design, while dynamically pivoting between fully closed and open to balance brake and powertrain cooling and efficiency to suit the driving environment. Through extensive testing, Active Vanes may contribute to 27 miles to reach the total range(47). The central vanes also allow airflow to ensure optimal charging speeds are maintained in extreme temperatures(48).

Fast. Powerful. Updatable.

Type 01 uses Jaguar’s latest Electrical Vehicle Architecture and embraces the principles of software‑defined vehicles. Type 01 will get better with age thanks to Software Over The Air (SOTA) technology(49) that makes this future‑ready four‑door GT easier and faster to update and improve than any previous Jaguar. Processing performance is optimized by an NVIDIA(TM)‑powered central cockpit controller, that is 10 times faster than previous generations, enabling quicker responses for clients and more on‑board technology systems. Software on Type 01 has completed 150,000 different tests over tens of thousands of hours.

Jaguar’s suite of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS)(50) utilizes 10 external cameras, five radars and 12 ultrasonic sensors working together to promote comfort and convenience. Powered by an NVIDIA(TM) system that handles trillions of operations per second, Type 01 seamlessly blends assistance systems into the driving experience, so they feel natural and unobtrusive. For example, a 3D Surround Camera integrates with the digital ClearSight Rear View Display(51) to provide a 360‑view for navigating narrow streets. The forward‑facing radar is integrated behind the raised foil finish of the Jaguar device mark. For optimum year‑round ADAS performance, a heated element behind the badge helps maintain a suitable operating temperature on cold days.

Intuitive and instinctive 

Type 01 prioritizes technology that makes life easier without ever dominating the interior architecture. Intelligently applied and discretely integrated. Developed around people, not hardware. Jaguar human factors experts studied how drivers interact with the vehicle, for example where they place their hands on the wheel and where their eyes naturally look. All with the aim of creating a user experience that is safer and more convenient.  

A new 24‑inch driver display places absolute control exactly where it’s needed. It provides exceptional clarity and optimized brightness and is home to the intuitive all‑new Jaguar Infotainment. Favorite features and common tasks are carried out from the driver’s screen, with the majority of functions available in just two taps. For added convenience, a secondary smartphone‑style seven‑inch screen is within easy reach between the driver and front passenger, for frequently performed tasks, such as adjusting the four‑zone climate control or media volume. A matching portrait screen sits in the center console in the rear(55). 

The user interface is complemented by a new, powerful, more natural Voice Assistant(56), designed to understand conversational, multi‑step instructions so drivers can keep their hands on the wheel and their focus on the road. Chat to Type 01 and simply ask it to start or stop a charging session, open and close the powered charging port or optimize the navigation for charging locations. Connected Speech also enables general conversation about topics of interest, the weather forecast or upcoming journey details, supported in 18 languages(57).  

The ClearSight Rear View Display(58) is positioned at the same height as the door mirrors to help reduce the focal adjustment demanded from the driver. A new concept houses the display within the Panoramic Soundbar, providing a clear view forward and back. The system, which works in harmony with the 3D Surround Camera, provides a wide, unobstructed field of vision with enhanced low‑light visibility compared to a traditional mirror. Advanced camera technology in the roof‑mounted antennae pod with a hydrophobic lens ensures a clear image while software optimization maintains high‑definition quality(59).

Enveloped in sound

The Jaguar Immersive Sound System – powered by Meridian(TM)(60) – is integral to the Type 01 experience. A bespoke design, crafted to deepen the cabin’s atmosphere and emotion, shaping how people feel inside the vehicle through the power of sound. 

At its heart is the Panoramic Soundbar ‑ a fully integrated 13‑speaker arrangement curving across the dashboard at the base of the windshield. This one‑of‑a‑kind system features eight proprietary Meridian technologies to create the ultimate soundstage, tuned exclusively for Type 01. Concealed within the meticulously designed interior, a further 25 speakers combine with the 13‑speaker Panoramic Soundbar to create a wall of sound, optimizing the flow of soundwaves across the longitudinal interior architecture and surrounding occupants with an expansive field of powerful, immersive audio. Years of testing, tuning and refinement ensure the Jaguar Immersive Sound System works in harmony with the interior – delivering a carefully considered audio experience. Sensory Audio adds a further dimension for the driver and front passenger. Individually controlled, it creates a physical connection to the music through the seat, ranging from a gentle sense of depth at lower intensity levels to a more expressive sensation when desired, always precisely synchronized with the music. Created with Meridian(TM), drawing on more than 50 years of audio innovation, the 38‑speaker Jaguar Immersive Sound System is an original audio experience built to challenge convention. Engineered with a deep understanding of the complexities of human hearing, it brings the artist's work to life exactly as intended, deepening emotion and connection through sound(62).  

Intelligently connected

Jaguar Infotainment is fast and improves over time with Software Over The Air updates. Wireless Apple CarPlay(TM) and Wireless Android Auto are standard. Wireless device charging for two devices. A built‑in 5G Wi‑Fi hotspot for up to eight devices(63).

To keep drivers and passengers entertained, a comprehensive Integrated App library, available with the Online Pack(64), supports a range of audio streaming, gaming, point of interest and productivity apps(65) such as Spotify(TM) and Amazon Music(66). All apps are optimized for in‑vehicle use, including video streaming functionality on the front row screen while stationary, for example when charging. 

Intelligent convenience is built‑in to Type 01’s connected navigation. Connected Navigation Pro provides Real Time Traffic and Online Routing to make regular journeys simple and efficient. Jaguar Route Planning helps ensure energy is optimized for every journey with accurate range prediction for complete confidence on the move. Onboard technology flags significant changes in driving style and how they’re affecting driving range in real time, automatically scheduling charging stops when needed and prioritizing Jaguar Charging locations for the most convenient rest stop. The whole system is fully integrated with the Jaguar App allowing clients to plan a route before leaving home(67).

The right mood

Type 01 clients can customize the cabin environment with preset moods to meet their needs: Comfort, Energize and Custom. These activate a series of technologies including ambient lighting and the massage seats. A fragrance diffuser gives clients a choice of scents to further tailor the cabin, while the virtual sunshade for the Switchable Panoramic Roof shades the interior when needed. 

Cabin Air Purification Pro may help reduce allergens, toxins and harmful particulates from the cabin air, with a Purge function that freshens the cabin before a journey and can be activated remotely using the Jaguar App.

Throughout, the five‑channel Active Road Noise Cancellation maintains the serenity in the cabin by minimizing road noise for a near silent drive, using the speakers in the seat headrests.
