DAVID BERRY
Chief Legal Officer
David joined JLR as Chief Legal Officer in September 2022, reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer and responsible for leading the company’s legal and compliance teams.
He brings over 20 years’ experience of in‑house legal leadership. Having started his career at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, David spent 14 years at Diageo, latterly as General Counsel, M&A, IP and Antitrust. He then spent 7 years as a member of Tesco's UK & ROI leadership team and led the legal teams supporting Tesco's UK and Ireland businesses.
With international experience of markets from North America to China and India, David has also lived and worked in North America for two periods – most recently 2011‑2013 – while leading the legal teams supporting Diageo's beers, wines and spirits businesses in the US.
David is passionate about the role that empowered and agile in‑house legal teams can play as effective business partners and key contributors particularly in consumer driven businesses with established international brands.
David has an MA in Philosophy Politics and Economics from Oxford University.
